The title says it all really: we bought our first house! We’ve known since November that we’d have to leave our previous house by the end of May, and although we were a little taken aback (as we were planning on spending an additional year saving up for a deposit), we decided it was a good time to take our first steps on the property ladder.
It’s a little bit of a fixer-upper, but it’s got so many great existing features – the downstairs herringbone wooden floors (and upstairs has wooden plank flooring too), established fruit trees and veg patches in the garden and this great cottage-y feel, despite it being an end terrace house.
I am just itching to get renovating and making changes, and really making the place ours. I have a feeling we’ll start by tidying up and dog-proofing the garden over the warmer months, moving indoors to downstairs with the living spaces next. I don’t think they need too much work, and I think we can salvage a fair amount of the current spaces, although some rooms like the kitchen might need re-configuring, so who knows! This is our current plan, but we want to try and be quite fluid and not rush into doing too much, too fast.
I’m also going to post a little house tour up once we manage to get everything unpacked, but before we start to do anything to the spaces (besides maybe a lick of white paint here and there!), so I’ll try to get that live ASAP so you can all have a good nosey around our new space. Also, obviously this is a strange time for buying property/moving etc, so if you want to know anything about the process we went through to get the house, please leave me a comment below or message me on socials with any questions. If enough of you are interested, I might also piece together another blog post just on that subject – just let me know!
In the meantime, stay tuned for lots more of the new house!
